Worship Weekend 2019
Our annual mini-revival emphasizing membership & mission, beginning our journey into the Holiday season.
Special Guests from Baptist Church of the Redeemer: Pastor Travis Cardwell & Music Minister Jason Allison
It has been said, “If you want to build a ship, don’t drum up people to collect wood and don’t assign them tasks and work, but rather teach them to long for the endless immensity of the sea.” As a pastor of a local church, I think about this often. I regularly sound the call for volunteers, for more support for the church’s ministries, and for the filling of service opportunities that seem to never end. I often ask myself, have we lost our longing and awe of the beauty of the local church and what it represents? Have I become a coach, giving tips, and trying to inspire, instead of a herald pointing to the joy of the universe? I hope that you will join us for “Worship Weekend” at Danbury Baptist Church, as we seek to renew our love and affections for those that Jesus purchased with his own blood. Our goal for the weekend echoes that of the author of Hebrews, “And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near (Heb. 10:24-25).” Friends, the Day is drawing near. How will we live and love one another in the context of the local church until then? Will it be our priority, or on the periphery of our lives? What does commitment to a church look like, and what is at stake? I am praying that you will join us as we look to God’s Word, asking him to renew our longing for Him and for his people.Pastor Travis Cardwell
