For the week beginning Sunday, May 17, 2020
We are praying today for the large wave of churches that are reopening for the first time this morning. Join us in lifting up our brothers and sisters as they take the initial steps to normalcy and fellowship. This is a difficult journey, and now 3 Sundays in, I am glad that we are nearing our next phase of reopening and can be a help to others on our mission field. The Lord continues to use DBC as a “Barnabas” among our sister churches and for that I am thankful. Our God is so faithful.-Pastor David
DBC Reopening PHASE II— NEXT Sunday, May 24th
Today is our last Sunday under full restrictions as we follow along with the State of Texas in a new phase of our reopening that will modify our restrictions and provide a more recognizable routine along with more amenities (including childcare during the worship service) predicting that Phase III will be initiated around June 3rd.
Our view of the government often depends on our current circumstances. Paul dealt with the believer’s relationship to governing authorities. He called for submission to authority, balancing the government’s God-given right to rule with our submission to God, who alone holds absolute authority. Focus on Romans 13:1-14 and 9-18 in your Bible and the comments for session 12 in your Explore the Bible Personal Study Guide. Consider ways believers should seek to represent Christ well in their communities and world.
When have you received stellar service? Good customer service is about doing what’s right and helping the other person. We have seen this played out during the COVID-19 crisis. People doing the right thing and helping others. When we’re talking about relationships, the principle still applies: we strengthen our relationships when we help and serve the other person. Serving is a tangible way to love others. Join us as we discover the biblical mandate to serve by carrying the burden of others.

Worship Through Singing
CALL TO WORSHIP
[Psalm 4:1-8 ESV] 1 To the choirmaster: with stringed instruments. A Psalm of David. Answer me when I call, O God of my righteousness! You have given me relief when I was in distress. Be gracious to me and hear my prayer! 2 O men, how long shall my honor be turned into shame? How long will you love vain words and seek after lies? Selah 3 But know that the LORD has set apart the godly for himself; the LORD hears when I call to him. 4 Be angry, and do not sin; ponder in your own hearts on your beds, and be silent. Selah 5 Offer right sacrifices, and put your trust in the LORD. 6 There are many who say, “Who will show us some good? Lift up the light of your face upon us, O LORD!” 7 You have put more joy in my heart than they have when their grain and wine abound. 8 In peace I will both lie down and sleep; for you alone, O LORD, make me dwell in safety.
Worship Through Giving
In an effort to provide our church members and our supporters a convenient and consistent way to contribute, an online giving portal is now available. Thank you for your generosity!
Worship Through Ministering of the Word
[Matthew 7:7-11 ESV] 7 “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. 8 For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened. 9 Or which one of you, if his son asks him for bread, will give him a stone? 10 Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a serpent? 11 If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask him!
How can we pray for you?
